Product Description

Protects ferrous metals against rust. Suitable as a primer or self finish. Prevents rust creep. Recommended for protection of structural steelwork, agricultural & construction plant & machinery, gates, railings, iron pipework & guttering & the rust prevention of in-situ welding work. Galvafroid has a mid-grey, matt finish. Should not be used on rusty, corroded surfaces or over existing coatings. Should not be used on surfaces in contact with drinking water. Should not be used on surfaces exposed to soft water at temperatures above 60C. Should not be used on surfaces treated with phosphoric acid based rust removers. Should not be overcoated with materials containing strong solvents such as chlorinated & aromatic hydrocarbons, esters & ethers. COVERAGE: 16Mtr Sq/Litre when used as a primer. COVERAGE: 8Mtr Sq/Litre when used as a self finish. SPECIFICATION: . Volume solids:40%. Solids by weight:80%. Zinc content by volume on dry film:61%. Zinc content by weight on dry film:90%. Drying times at 20C -. touch dry:2 hours. hard dry:24 hours. recoating time:24 hours min. Flash points:41C. DESIGN CRITERIA: When applied as a self-finish Galvafroid should be applied in two coats. One coat when used as a primer. To achieve the correct protection, Galvafroid must be applied on the substrate at the coverage rate recommended.

  • Galvafroid zinc rich galvanising coating is specifically designed to protect ferrous metals against rust and rust creep. Suitable as a primer or self-finish, Galvafroid is recommended for the protection of structural steel, machinery, iron pipework, railings, guttering, in-situ welding work and much more. Available in a mid-grey, matt finish, Galvafroid zinc coating offers coverage of 16mtr Sq when used as a primer and 8mtr Sq/litre when used as a self-finish. Galvafroid is not suitable for use on: rusty, corroded surfaces, metal with existing coatings, surfaces in contact with drinking water, surfaces exposed to soft water above 60c or surfaces treated with phosphoric acid base rust removers. Avoid over coating with materials containing strong solvents such as chlorinated and aromatic hydrocarbons, esters & ethers.
